Is it all in your head?

Each emotion you experience has two core foundations it’s useful to understand:

  1. A feeling that is always real.
  2. A story that is sometimes fake.

What you primarily experience is the feeling (joy, anger, fear, sadness, guilt, shame, love). Feelings are always real because you feel what you feel. It can’t be faked or falsified. Emotions and the associated feelings are hardwired.

Emotions dominate your senses so intensely that it’s difficult to see the story in your head creating the feelings you experience. This makes it incredibly common and easy for a false story to create a legitimate emotion.

Appreciate that while the feelings in your emotions are real, the stories creating them may not be.

Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
