Focus is the skill of controlling your attention. Whether you need wide focus (perspective) or narrow (concentration), you must control your attention.

What does it mean to control your attention?
Remember this phrase: 3D Focus: Direction x Depth x Duration.

  1. Direction: Where you point your attention. What you give and deny attention.
  2. Depth: How narrow or wide your lens is. How much or how little you give attention.
  3. Duration: How long your attention stays this way before adjusting direction, depth, or both.

Recognize that you already do these three things. You give your attention a direction, depth, and duration, no matter what. And you do it always because of your decisions.

Will you do it with autopilot default or intentional discipline?

Brick by brick. Do the work.
