Over the weekend I met two wonderful women, Amy and Piper. I was finishing dinner by myself during a long work trip layover when they sat down across from me at a community table.
They were apprehensive whether I wanted them sitting directly in front of me or preferred to keep my personal space and privacy. Piper quickly commented that in high school she made a point to seek out and sit with students who were alone, but in adulthood that practice has been stamped out by popular culture.
Our conversation was brief, about 20 minutes, but so much fun. We made personal connections and shared a few not so random coincidences. Earlier in the evening, Amy and Piper discussed a need for more discipline. Then they chose to sit down in front of me :)
I was struck then and now how often principles from our past drift away from us as life unfolds. Amy and Piper, if you’re reading, thanks for sitting with me even if you weren’t seeking it out. My evening was better because of it.
Embrace the chase. Do the work.
