There are things you want to do that feel intimidating when you think about actually doing them.
Starting your own company. Writing a book. Running a marathon. Asking someone on a date. Breaking up with someone. Getting married. Getting divorced.
Intimidation you feel is like a giant fire-breathing dragon standing in your path. The logical thing when faced with that scenario is to choose a different path, any path, that isn’t as intimidating.
It won’t get you what you want or take you where you need to go, but at least you won’t have to go down that scary, uncomfortable path where you’ll have to test yourself and fight for it. It just gets you away from that pit in your stomach.
When you’re feeling intimidated, sometimes that’s all you can think about.
But who are you if you back down from intimidation, whether it’s self-imposed or externally triggered?
What is the admirable quality in seeing a path to a worthy destination but backing away from it because you feel intimidated by it?
This is your character to carve. This is your life to create. Intimidation is a dragon on your path. Grab your shield of courage, pick up your sword of discipline, and slay it like a conquering hero.
Everything is training for something. Do the work.
