Stop hoping for results. Start creating them.

You want results. You want things in your life to go your way. We all do.

You want the outcomes you want.

Every day you’re trying to make things happen. Win the game. Close the sale. Get the job. Build the relationship, fix it, or end it without excessive damage. Big outcomes. Small outcomes. All outcomes.

You want someone to trust and believe you or do something. You want someone to change their behavior or act a certain way.

We’re all chasing outcomes that matter to us. We’re all trying to produce what we think is important. That’s why the simple formula Event + Response = Outcome (E+R=O) is so crucial.

Not for managing circumstances. Not for facing adversity. E+R=O is useful in those contexts, as always, but it’s bigger than that. If you respond well to events but rarely produce the desired outcome, how well are you really responding?

E+R=O is for producing more of the outcomes that matter to you, more often. It’s for seeing how your responses create your results. It’s for understanding the mechanics and skills of controlling yourself in an uncontrollable world.

Not only because it is the disciplined thing to do, but because it is the most productive thing you can do.

You can’t control events. But you can control your response. And your response determines your outcomes. Master your response, and you’ll get more of what you want, more often.

Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
