We don’t live in isolation. Our lives are impacted and our paths are shaped by people. Some who we know intimately, some not at all, and some who have been gone from this world for many years.
We aim to be responsible and self-reliant while at the same time acknowledging and appreciating how often our daily reality is positively affected by someone else’s hand. All of us have certain things due more to the effort of others than ourselves.
We enjoy our personal freedoms born out of personal sacrifice from people we’ve never known. We learn character from the people who chose to invest in us. We gain life-changing experience, sometimes before we’re ready, because someone believed in us.
We trust pilots and Uber drivers with our lives. We benefit from the inventions, medicine, and medical care that teams of people have dedicated their lives to create and bring to us.
We are far more connected to people than our minds can appreciate in a practical daily sense. It’s hard to grasp the size, scope, and scale of our interdependence with people.
For today at least, let’s say thank you to anyone and everyone who's had a hand in shaping who we’ve become, what we have, and what we are free to do.
Everything is training for something. Do the work.
