Train Your Mind Like a Muscle

Think of your mind as a muscle. What are the important qualities of a muscle?

You want a muscle to be stronger, not weaker. You want it to be flexible, not stiff. You want it to be resilient, not fragile. You want it to have endurance, not easily fatigue. You want it to be coordinated, not all over the place.

Isn’t it the same for your mind?

How do you build and train a muscle?

To make it stronger you strain it with varying weight. To make it flexible you stretch it consistently. To make it resilient you push its limits then help it recover with rest and fuel. To give it endurance you keep it actively engaged for longer periods of time. To make it coordinated you practice focused and skilled patterns with a purpose.

Isn’t it the same for your mind?

Knowing what you’ll need from your mind is an important self-awareness too often skipped, overlooked in favor of the autopilot expectation of a “good life”.

Your mind will be as strong, flexible, resilient, enduring, and coordinated as you build it to be. Life is not a vacation. It’s not a casual walk or a routine you can follow.

Life is everything. The good and the bad. The ups and the down. The miracles and the tragedies. The blue sky, smooth seas and the dark cloud, rough seas. Weakness will cost you. Only a little if you’re lucky. Everything if you’re not.

Train your mind for what life will require of you. Train your mind like a muscle.

Everything is training for something. Do the work.
