The easier it is to get, the less valuable it is. The harder it is to get, the more valuable it is. Look at your past, how the easy things were only temporarily satisfying, but the hard things you’ve been through and accomplished are embedded into you forever.
Look at your present, how the easy things are so good at calling your attention while the hard things are so good at being pushed back. It’s hard to choose struggle when you could easily choose comfort instead.
But hard things keep you honest. Struggle holds you responsible for who you are and what you do.
In comfort you find temporary relief and form convenient lies. In struggle you find yourself. In struggle you form yourself.
Important things are hard because they need to be hard. That’s the only way they’re worth something.
Embrace the chase. Do the work.
