Some people hate Mondays. Why?
Because they see work as something they have to do instead of something they get to do. They think that’s just how it is. They don’t see the choice they’re making.
Work can be whatever you want to make it:
- A problem to avoid
- A necessary inconvenience
- A drain and distraction from “real” life
- A game to play
- A path to purpose
- An extension of purpose
Work is not your job. Work is what you do. It’s not the logo on your shirt, your title on the org chart, or the buildings you go to. Work is the act, the effort, and the aim you bring to everything you touch.
Picture two people doing the exact same job. Same company. Same role. Same paycheck.
One drags herself to work like she’s walking to the gallows. The other shows up like she’s stepping onto a stage where she gets to perform something meaningful.
Same job. Different work.
Work will be whatever you decide it is. The question isn’t what work you do. The question is how you see it and what you make of it.
Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
