What is in your power? To work hard, to be kind, to have fun. What is not in your power? Other people, the environment around you, the nature of the world.
Look around and see all the people with the power to be kind and contribute, who don’t use that power, because like small children they wait for someone else to go first. Or they believe in being kind and contributing only to people who agree with them. They do not model the behavior they expect from others. They demand it, but fail to demonstrate it in their own lives.
What can you do? Demonstrate what you believe through your behavior. Don’t do it with expectations of what others should do in return to you. Do it because it’s who you are or who you want to be, regardless of what anyone else chooses to do. You have the power. Use it.
