Five clear and specific disciplines to build your life on:
- The discipline to live your beliefs. (Integrity)
- The discipline to act when you're afraid. (Courage)
- The discipline to make good decisions under emotional pressure. (Wisdom)
- The discipline to show restraint and say no. (Moderation)
- The discipline to do the work when you don't feel like it. (Dedication)
Read through the list again and ask yourself, "How often will I experience a need for this discipline?" I want you to recognize and appreciate how often these disciplines are at the center of your life. If it's not daily, it's at least weekly.
Now ask yourself, "What happens to me (my experiences, objectives, priorities, relationships) when I bring too little discipline to any of these?"
This exercise is a valuable dive into self-awareness likely to reveal strengths and weaknesses in your discipline patterns.
