You probably make assumptions about me.
You might think I'm great at every skill I write about. That I never struggle with discipline. That because I've written 1,909 Daily Discipline messages since January 1, 2018, my discipline must be near perfect.
Wrong.
Here’s what may surprise you.
I don’t just write Daily Discipline for you. I write it for me, too. Last week I wrote about lessons we're not ready to learn. I was writing about my own stubbornness. About things I've known but resisted doing. And what it has cost me.
Daily Discipline is me working on my own discipline. I write about topics, situations, and skills that I think are useful to your life, but I also write about what I’m working on in my life.
I write about my weak spots. I dig into the areas where I struggle. I work on the parts of me that want to hide.
There’s no way to measure this exactly, but I promise you something. I get as much value writing these messages as you do reading them.
I am not above you or below you. I am with you.
My journey lives in every message you read. Sometimes I share what I’ve learned and mastered. Other times I document what I am learning and experiencing. And plenty of times I explore what I am still learning and must do with stronger discipline.
I’m the author of Daily Discipline. But first, I’m just like you.
You're not alone in this. We're teammates. Your work is my work.
Event + Response = Outcome. Do the work.
