You know discipline works. Everyone does. So, what gets in the way?
Impatience.
You don’t doubt discipline, but you might doubt how long it will take to deliver the rewards you want. Discipline works but only when you do it well enough for long enough.
A moment of discipline here or there can improve a situation. If discipline is going to improve your life, however, you must infuse it with patience. Discipline plus patience is an insanely valuable combination. Both powerful and rare.
When there’s not enough patience in your discipline, you’re too reactive. When there’s not enough discipline in your patience, you’re too passive.
Discipline is more productive when it’s paired with patience. Otherwise, you expect too much reward from too little effort.
Impatience isn’t the only impediment to discipline. I’ll reveal another major impediment tomorrow.
Brick by brick. Do the work.
