If you are reading this, you live a life of comfort and abundance. Look at the device you are reading on right now. Look at your surroundings. Look at the resources at your disposal. Look at what you can access.
Comfort and abundance, rather than satisfy desire, stoke the flames of desire. Comfort generates desire for more comfort and disdain for struggle. Abundance generates desire for more abundance and disdain for scarcity.
Comfort and abundance distort the mind and breed an invisible entitlement. We begin to believe that we deserve what we must earn. We confuse luxuries with necessities.
Just because you desire it does not mean you deserve it.
You do not deserve an iPhone.
You do not deserve a Netflix subscription.
You do not deserve entertainment.
You do not deserve to own a home.
You do not deserve vacations.
You do not deserve a higher-paying job.
None of us do. No one does. These are desires. These are luxuries. We may pursue these desires and others if we want, but we do not deserve them. If we choose to pursue and value these, we must earn them through the quality of our actions.
Just because something is common for others does not mean it's owed to you. Just because someone else has it does not mean you get to demand it.
What is owed to you?
Freedom.
Freedom to choose. Freedom to express. Freedom to pursue what is important to you. Freedom to earn as you are capable.
Do not let the abundance around you or comfort within you distort your perspective of what you deserve and what you must earn.
Brick by brick. Do the work.
