The emotion is not the outcome

The emotion you feel in moments of difficulty can consume you. The emotions surrounding pain, criticism, failure, disappointment, rejection, and loss can swallow you into a sea of feelings that slowly submerge you under their spell. That may be why people try so hard to eradicate these experiences.

In these moments, it’s difficult to access the rational awareness that this too shall pass. The intensity of the emotion feels permanent. It feels final, like it will last forever.

When you feel something this intense, remind yourself: this emotion is not the outcome.

It isn’t final. It isn’t forever. There is something next. There is life after every emotion.

Your response to your emotions, especially the intense ones, shapes outcomes more than what you feel in the moment.

The time is now. Do the work.
