A message of gratitude this morning on Thanksgiving feels too common, too obvious to make a meaningful note. Like a well-traveled trail, repetitive reminders to cherish what we have during the holiday season is carved into our consciousness. The constant buzz of alerts to be thankful does not necessarily need reinforcement from me today.
Instead, if you’re willing, I will take you down a different trail. No less valuable. But maybe a little less talked about and traveled.
May weakness have no room in your life but honest vulnerability be a ready and willing partner.
May envy find no foothold in your mind but meaningful purpose always command your attention.
May complaining not fill your conversations but truth with love be your aim.
May disagreements and differences not trigger hate and hostility from you but humility, understanding, and freedom be your guiding lights.
Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
