What It Takes: Part 5

Let's recap the week of What It Takes.

Three requirements to create the value and meaning you want regardless of the events you're given:

  1. Awareness
  2. Ability
  3. Energy

Nothing derails you faster than a lack of awareness, ability, or energy. Nothing accelerates you towards your mission more quickly than prioritizing these three requirements.

Dive in. Don't tiptoe. Decisive action holds power.

Your heart knows when you're only half-committed. It recognizes when you're not all-in. It also recognizes and responds to decisive action. So dive in and immerse yourself into your purpose and mission, especially the parts you fear.

Not everything hard is great, but everything great is hard.

Time and again, you will stand at a fork in the road in a decisive moment: follow the crowd to the mountain of average or choose a path with higher standards towards bigger goals. These choices define your life and your heart. You cannot avoid them. One way or another, you will decide.

If you have anything meaningful in your heart to accomplish or become, you have to do what you have to do.

Some people will not understand you when you do what it takes to fulfill your purpose — even people in your family. There will be tension between doing what needs to be done and its impact on your relationships. Sometimes that is the price. Set aside the doubt, criticism, and judgment of others. Let them carry that weight. You hold the weight of your mission, your purpose, and the work it takes to fulfill them.

What does it take?

  1. Awareness, ability, and energy.
  2. Dive in. Immerse yourself.
  3. Choose the path you want to define your life and your heart.
  4. Do what you have to do.

Answer the call. Do the work.
