Worrying what people will think of you?

Today’s message is uncomplicated. People will sacrifice their future to protect from feeling rejected. It’s basic to the point of being mistaken as something that doesn’t apply to you. Don’t make that mistake. Push past any mental programming that says this message isn’t for you.

A major impediment to forward progress is worrying what other people will think of you. It takes many forms and sneaks into your mind like a ninja where it grows like a virus.

How they will treat me? Will they still accept me? How do I justify my past? How do I justify my decision? What if they don’t like it? What if they don’t like me? What if they label me? What if they ignore me? What if they make fun of me? What if they don’t support me? What if they go against me? What if I’m wrong? What if I’m right?

“They” can be strangers, co-workers, managers, clients, the public, fans, friends, and especially family. The more emotion in the relationship or the environment will increase the intensity of the worry. That’s why you might struggle most with those closest to you. Team, family, and friends are prime settings for this ninja virus to infiltrate your mind and alter the way you work to become the best version of you.

Self-awareness is the first step. Self-discipline is the next.

Embrace the chase. Do the work.
