It’s important to remember you don’t have to do anything.
That’s just a script that’s been patterned into your mind by parents, teachers, coaches, politicians, gurus, and authority figures. Yes, sometimes that phrase is used in a general sense (I’ve used it before) but in the true sense it’s up to you.
You don’t have to be kind or ambitious or open-minded.
You don’t have to work hard or eat right or read books.
You don’t have to be a good teammate or spouse or citizen.
You decide.
You can be as selfish or selfless as you want.
You can be as disciplined or undisciplined as you enjoy.
You can be as skillful or sloppy as you like.
You decide.
You don’t have to stop complaining.
You don’t have to stop procrastinating.
You don’t have to stop people-pleasing.
Get rid of “have to”. Choose to or choose not to. Keep your freedom close and your responsibility closer.
Your life, your character, and your legacy is built on your choices.
You decide.
Everything is training for something. Do the work.
