You might have some fake friends

Real friends want you to get better. Fake friends want you to stay the same.

Real friends push and support your effort to improve. In their minds, you getting better makes them better too. Shared enthusiasm is always encouraging, but especially when it comes from someone excited to see you grow.

Fake friends criticize and undermine your effort to improve. In their minds, you getting better makes them look bad. Contagious cynicism is always discouraging, but especially when it comes from someone you thought was a friend.

Anyone who diminishes your effort to improve yourself or your environment is a fake friend, not a real one. Relationships like that deserve to change or end.

Do the work.
