Yesterday I referred to the plain sight secret that not many people really try to be elite, meaning more opportunity for you if you do.
Is it that simple? And why? Good questions. Let’s look at two things.
First, observe and assess the number of people you see living in total commitment to elite vs the number of people you see choosing or accepting less. I say this frequently here: look around. Don’t judge, just observe. There’s a difference between being a good person having a job and a person being committed to elite. Observe. What do you see?
Second, when I ask people why they don’t go all-in on elite, the answers revolve around fear of failure and fear of success. Fear of failure blocks people because of negative feelings associated with struggle or the ego hit of finding out you’re not good enough. Fear of success blocks people because they want to avoid high expectations or needing to work hard all the time to keep up a high standard. When someone is afraid of failing and afraid of succeeding, the easiest decision is to convince themselves they’re fine where they are.
How does mindset affect the pursuit? What role do relationships play?
We’ll start by addressing mindset tomorrow. It’s a big one.
Do the work.
