Everyone has a style. No, I’m not talking about your hair or clothes or shoes.
I’m talking about your behavior style. How you see the world. The way you process information. What matters to you and what doesn’t. The way you deal with stress. How you interact and communicate.
We all have our style. We were all born with a style. We all developed differently within our style.
You are somewhere on the style spectrum with emotions, tasks, competition, details, time management, patience, change, and much more.
Your style is great. It’s just not great for every situation.
We need to use and maximize our style as well as recognize when it needs to flex and adjust to meet the needs of the situation and the people involved. Problems show up when we overuse our style.
Driving hard for results is an impactful style. So is patient commitment to the process. Energetic communication that engages people is incredibly influential. So is setting emotion aside to thoroughly complete a detailed task.
Any behavior style can work. Any behavior style will also get you in trouble when you are unable or unwilling to flex out of it.
Being excellent with your style is being aware of how to leverage it without overusing it when it doesn’t work well for the situation.
Everything is training for something. Do the work.
