Less activity. More production.

Production is usually a word reserved for performance environments. Salespeople who drive revenue are top producers. Athletes who perform well generate production. Companies optimize for productivity.

To be productive is to accomplish vital priorities that generate value.

Why do we think this way and use this word so obsessively in our professional lives and so little in our personal lives?

Personal life isn't about the volume of production. We aren't here to grind and always do more. We're here for purpose and significance. We're here to create experiences and meaning.

Think about your life:

  • What are the vital priorities that generate value for you?
  • What are the key issues undermining that value for you?
  • How much production are you generating in the 3-5 things with the most purpose to you and significance to the people around you?

Production in your personal life may only be one thing for the rest of this year. It's that significant. It could be two things. They're that meaningful

That's the kind of personal production worth joyfully obsessing over.

The time is now. Do the work.
