Pain and disappointment are not excuses

Certain things from your distant or recent past have created challenges for you. Maybe it was how you were raised or what you experienced in childhood. Perhaps it was a series of heartbreaking disappointments or hidden entitlements early in your career. You might have been burned, let down, or mistreated by a romantic partner, boss, friend, or family member. Because of egos, incompetence, injustice, or political agendas, something could have disrupted your life.

Bad things do happen to good people. Bad things happen to everyone. No one is immune. We've all experienced big and little traumas in seen and unseen ways. The details of our painful and disappointing experiences from the past differ uniquely, but we all have them. We share in that.

While the cause of specific difficulties may be from a traumatic experience in your past, the present is what matters. You may not be responsible for what happened in the past, but you are 100% responsible for yourself now in the present.

Your past contains causes, not excuses. You are responsible for everything about yourself, including how you respond to a history you can't change.

Answer the call. Do the work.
