What people say and what they do aren’t always the same.

We are social creatures. Conscious of the image we project. Some more than others. Conscious of our reputation. At least its existence and what we’d like it to be. Conscious of our social standing. Where we fit in and where we might not. Who we want to be associated with and who we definitely don’t want to be.

Because people are social creatures equipped with advanced communication and thinking skills, they sometimes say things they don’t really believe and don’t actually do. Or don’t say certain things they believe and do.

More than sometimes. All the time. In every environment too: at work, at home, with friends, with strangers and online. Why? To project an image, influence a reputation, fit in, or stand out.

The social side of life is preoccupied mostly with what people say while the practical side of life values mostly what they do.

Discipline is the shortcut. Do the work.
